Do you view change as an integral part of becoming a leader? (136-4)
Even for good leaders, change can be difficult and even disruptive. Read Proverbs 14:8.
In one way or another, every leader has an aversion to change especially if things appear to be going reasonably well and according to short-term and long-range plans. Yet we serve a God that is committed to nothing less than an entirely new order in His creation. Revelation 21:5 says, “He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then He said, ‘write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’” Living in a world directed by the hand of God the effective leader needs to anticipate change and even embrace it. The goal isn’t to stop change but to determine how to lead in an environment where change is a given.
Most leaders have probably handled change poorly at one time or another. One reason leaders are inconsistent is that they are adjusting their core truths and values to match the new situation rather than allowing their core truths and established values to direct their attitude and actions. Since change is inevitable the wise leader must establish solid core truths to help them remain consistent as they lead their team.
Change is an integral component of becoming the leader that God meant you to be. Without change growth is impossible. Now, understanding that God is directing change, re-read Proverbs 14:8 as it is stated in the Living Bible; “The wise (leader) man looks ahead. The fool attempts to fool himself and won’t face the facts.” Effective leaders strive to anticipate and adjust to changes with actions consistent with their core values.

I don’t call myself a great leader. However I often have to commit changes to my ministry blog. It has been a pain most of the time, but the results have always been rewarding…
